Reiki and Sex

When asked to write a few words in regards to the healing potential of Reiki and sex, I immediately thought to myself this is not going to happen. Then I was overcome with the thoughts of why. I was so quick to pass on this opportunity. Many of my friends, colleagues, clients, and customers are women, about 95%, and I have always shyly passed on many opportunities that seem to bridge a gap between the sexes, due to the fact only based on being a male figure in this mostly female field. For those few moments, I had thought this is not who I am, I’m an educator and I do share and support the benefits of natural health. I’m a certified practitioner of several alternative and holistic modalities and owner of Natural Ways Consulting LLC., I have a mission statement that goes as follows: “To inspire, educate and support the benefits of natural health”. With this statement alone in my mind I’m able to now sit comfortably and share the benefits regarding Reiki and sex.
Sex, look it up, Google it, it has more than one definition that no two people can agree upon. Getting down to basics one, of the definitions states: physical activity in which people touch each other’s bodies, kiss each other, etc. physical activity that is related to and often includes sexual intercourse.
Sex is so much more than that definition alone, it is physical, emotional, spiritual, ritualistic, and even more depending who the individual is or their exposure, upbringing, and religion. One thing for certain since sex is part of the human body, necessary for procreation alone, sex is energy.
Reiki, “Universal Life Force Energy”, a healing technique based on the principle that the practitioner can channel energy into the client by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the client’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. When breaking this done into the actual meaning Reiki is actually two separate words Rei and KI. Rei, translating to a higher intelligence that guides the creation and functioning of the universe. KI translating to, the non-physical energy that animates all living things. These translations alone are an explanation of how Reiki can potentially help with healing sexual imbalance. One thing to remember is that Reiki can never do any harm.
The sacral chakra determines our sexual appetites and disposition. It is also associated with our playfulness and our creative natures. Spiritual lessons associated with the sacral chakra are creativity, manifestation, honoring relationships, and learning to “let go.” The process that activates Reiki moves the ki energies through all the chakras. The energy movement begins at the crown chakra and moves downward through the root chakra and back up again. Any chakras that are shut down or partially blocked will be opened up during the reiki session. The second chakra, the body’s sexual center, cannot help but be affected by this. This is especially true if it has not been functioning fully beforehand. If a person has been sexually repressed or has had his sexual center shut down, the Reiki session could very possibly open up hidden intimacy-related issues, sexual urges, and emotions.
Everyone can have an active sex life even when their sacral chakra is blocked or shut down. Basically, a person with a closed sexual center goes through the motion of having sex without having a total awareness of their body. Having sex in this way can be enjoyable, but it does not compare to having a sexual experience with the sacral chakra open. Sharing sexual intimacy while your sacral chakra is open and functioning can be a completely startling experience for someone who has been closed off from their or her physical body. Admittedly, being fully in your body during sex can be exhilarating, to say the least. You will not likely forget the feeling once you have experienced it because it is amazing blend of the physical and the spiritual.
